While we work tirelessly to update our mods to 1.18.2, we are also making a lot of changes to our mod roster! This includes introducing new mods, rebranding and reorganizing existing mods, reintroducing old mods, and more! This blog post will offer insight on what is to come for the future of Team Abnormals!
To start things off, as previously announced, **Incubation **has been reintroduced into the roster! We have decided that there was no need to merge Incubation into Environmental, it serves a very different purpose from a general biome enhancement mod. Bloomful & Swamp Expansion are staying merged as Environmental, as they focus on the biome overhaul & enhancement theme.
Alongside the Scrambled Eggs, Fried Eggs, Egg Crates, Hay & Twig Nests, some new features have been introduced. Birds associated with their nests will now spawn alongside their nests when generated in the world, to make them feel less empty. Chicken Coops can also now be found in villages for a bit of decoration and introduction to the concept of nests.

Extra Boats has been lightly rebranded to Boatload! We decided the old name was pretty boring and had room for improvement. The mod has also gone through an internal rewrite to make it easier for mods to add support for Boatload on their ends, providing less workload for us and other developers!
Mojang recently introduced their own take on candles into Minecraft. Because of this, we have decided our candles no longer fit in the game without cluttering the decoration pool, and it would not make a lot of sense to have both iterations.
Alongside regular candles, Scented Candles are also being removed from the mod. We are not happy with how they were balanced, but also the workload required to add one every time a new flower type is introduced. Soul Candles may make a return at a later date, but that is undecided, and it may be better suited in a mod like Nether Extension for decoration purposes.
Other small features are making their exit, such as Honey Pots, Apiarists, and Honey Wands. Honey Wands made the campfire functionality with Beehives redundant, and Apiarist and Honey Pots really have no need to exist, the ability to put Honey in a Cauldron may take the Honey Pots place.
Finally, wood variant Beehives are not being removed, but they are being relocated into Woodworks, our new wood-based building block mod.
As mentioned earlier, Environmental has far too wide of a content reach. Because of this, it is branching out a bit into some smaller mods, to narrow its scope and give more option to our users.
The first split will be unmerging Incubation, which is already in 1.18.1 beta for patrons in our discord. This includes removing Egg Crates, Scrambled Eggs, Fried Eggs, and Nests.
As for new mods, we are introducing Woodworks, a wood-based building block mod, with our own takes on wood variant blocks and more! Some of our other plans are not as far in development, but will definitely separate from Environmental. **Clayworks **is currently in discussion, an offshoot for Terracotta Bricks, the Kiln, and potentially more clay themed items. We are also planning Mementos, a mod with just the Explorer Gear, but with a visual and slight mechanical overhaul.
Ice Bricks, Chains, and Lanterns will be removed from Environmental, they may return somewhere else at a later date, but that is undecided. Dirt Bricks & Tiles from Caverns & Chasmswill be transferred over to Environmental.
Going forward, Environmental will stay a general overworld enhancement mod, upgrading old biomes and introducing some lighter new biomes.
Behold, Woodworks! Woodworks is a brand new mod showcasing our take on various wood variant blocks, including Chests, Ladders, Beehives, Bookshelves, and more. The goal is to be a bit more self-dependent and provide options to the player.
Also included are leaf piles - a new decorative block that shares a model with glow lichen. They can be placed on all 6 sides of blocks and fertilized with bone meal to spread.
We currently plan to include the Sawmill alongside the new blocks introduced in the mod as well.
Small showcase of some of Woodworks' content.
Introducing Pet Cemetery! Most people have seen the content this mod implements, either via showcase or through a Caverns & Chasms beta. The mod allows for reviving your fallen pets as zombie or skeleton versions via a Forgotten Collar dropped by them after dying. We decided it fit better as its own mod and not as part of Caverns & Chasms.
Old showcase on Zombie Wolves, Cats, and Horses. Gravestones have since been replaced with a new mechanic for reviving.
Caverns & Chasmshas received a lot of focus recently, we have plenty of implemented features and tons more planned.
The pet revival mechanics including Zombie & Skeleton cats, dogs, and parrots, will be transferred over to the Pet Cemetery and Dirt Bricks & Tiles will be transferred to Environmental.
Caverns & Chasms' recently showcased Azalea Wood in a Lush Caves biome.
Many people are wondering what the deal is with Nether Extension, as it has been in development for quite some time but not particularly active. Focus has been on these new projects, porting, and Caverns & Chasms, so we have not had much time to put effort and time into this mod. We are re-evaluating its current content a bit and will hopefully resume working on it soon.
To wrap things up, we would like to thank everyone for being patient as we work on porting to 1.18.2. We have mods in various states right now, including still on 1.16.5, porting to 1.18.2, ported to 1.18.1, ported to 1.18.2, and new to 1.18.2. We hope you can bear with us as we take our time to update our mods as well as introduce the new mods previously mentioned.
After we make the ports to 1.18.2, we will continue to update the mods and introduce new mods as we usually do. We have lots of plans!
Thank you for being a great and patient community!
