Two years ago, we announced our first Caverns & Chasms beta, and showed off a ton of its features. A lot of things in Minecraft have been changed and introduced since then, and while we still are not quite ready for a release, Caverns & Chasms is back in development, now targeting 1.19.2!
We have made a lot of tweaks, improvements, and additions since our 1.16.5 betas, and have a lot of cool stuff to show you guys! Here is a glance at just *some *of the features available in the beta!
Silver
Silver is an entire new ore tier, acting as an alternate to gold in most cases. Silver Ore is more common in cold biomes, while Gold Ore is more common in warm biomes, but both can now be found in all biomes. Silver can also be found abundantly in Ice Spikes biomes, and underneath the surface of Soul Sand Valleys.
Silver's functionality has been changed to being magic damage themed, rather than undead themed. Silver weapons and tools now trade some of their base damage for an additional amount of magic damage. Silver gear now protects the wearer from a small percent of magic damage.
Silver can be crafted into a couple utilities, like Medium Weighted Pressure Plates and Spiked Rails. Silver can also make Kunai, small throwable daggers that deal magic damage. Silver can also be made into Depth Gauges, a new trinket that displays the player's altitude. Compasses have been updated to tell the player's latitude and longitude, Clocks have been updated to tell the day and time in the description.

Necromium
Necromium is an alternative to Netherite. To make Necromium, you use Silver in the recipe instead of Gold. Necromium can be made into the same gear Netherite can, including the newly introduced Netherite Horse Armor and Netherite Nuggets.
Necromium armor does not have the extra toughness or knockback resistance that Netherite has, but it gives off a 'weakness aura', that applies weakness to enemies around you when hit.
Necromium tools and weapons do slightly less damage, but inflict Slowness upon your enemies when hit.

Azalea Wood & Glares
The Lush Caves offers some brand new content! Azalea Trees are given a brand new Azalea wood set. This wood set is a deep purple color decorated with very regal and prestigious designs.
Glares can also be found in the Lush Caves! These leafy lurkers spawn around areas covered in vegetation! Glares get angry when they are within areas monsters can spawn. When near a Glare, they will grow attached to you and want to show you areas that are too dark!
This is just some of the Lush Caves content! We also have planned a new friendly bud to find in the biome. Additionally, one of our new ores, Spinel, is more common in the Lush Caves!

Spinel
Spinel is a new ore with a lot of fun mechanics! The ore can be found in all biomes, usually above the deepslate layer. The ore is extra common inside Lush Caves biomes.
Spinel can be combined with a bunch of different items to make new version of them. When combining Spinel with Golden Apples, you get a Bejeweled Apple, which gives the user a couple random effects upon consumption. Combining Spinel and TNT gives you TMT, a new TNT type that does no block or player damage, solely for knockback and launchers. Blunt Arrows are made with Spinel and Arrows, which do no damage and can be used in tandem with Punch, Flame, and Reeling from Allurement to move opponents around without killing them.
Spinel can also be used in many ways while brewing. Spinel can be brewed into Rewind potions. When a Rewind potion expires, you are teleported back to the location where you were first given the effect. This can be useful for quick retrieval expeditions!
Spinel also creates Tether potions, a new potion type that can be worn on your head. Tether potions grant you the designated potion effect continuously until you take damage or it is taken off. Instant effects are not granted continuously, but rather when the potion is removed or destroyed.
Finally, Mimes are a new enemy tied to Spinel. Mimes mimic your weapons and actions to create a scary foe within the depths of the world that can be just as strong as you!

Copper & Copper Golems
As a relatively unintegrated metal, Copper is given a fair few amount of features within this mod. These include a new golem, new tools, and plenty of new decorations!
Copper Bars are added alongside Golden and Silver bars. Copper bars weather and can be waxed just like other copper blocks! Copper Buttons are also added, which Copper Golems love to press! Additionally, Floodlights are a new lamp-like light source made with Copper and Amethyst that gives off a dim glow.
Copper also introduces Cupric Fire, a new fire type like Soul and Ender. Cupric fire is green and can be made into torches, lanterns, campfires, and braziers!
Tuning Forks are a new tool used to transfer notes between note blocks, to help with making note block contraptions in survival. Tuning Forks can also be used to control Copper and Iron Golems.
Copper Golems are a new golem type that love pressing the new Copper Buttons! They can be created with a Lightning Rod on top of a Carved Pumpkin, and controlled with Tuning Forks. Use them to make interesting automations and randomizers!

Building Blocks
To round out the last showcase, here is a collection of just some of the new building blocks we have added! Lapis Blocks have stayed the same, while Cobblestone Bricks & Tiles along with their mossy variants have been given a new look since their last showcase.
Tuff and Calcite have been made more in line with the other world stones, being given polished variants as well as crafting recipes for renewing the base block. Additionally, Amethyst and Dripstone can now be made into some fancy new variants!
